Yeah, we just watched Tapestry. Another fantastic episode. Also another "what if" scenario, this one dealt with Picard dying and Q giving him a second chance at life. Picard decides to change his fate by avoiding a fight with aliens called Naussicans (kinda look like Predator lite). In doing so, he alienates his friends and avoids being stabbed through the heart, which then makes his life unfold in a boring and uneventful fashion. He never attains the rank of captain, and never takes any risks to help achieve his lofty goals. He begs Q to undo this life, and happily ends up stabbed through the heart, and all is well.
Once again, this episode proves that Patrick Stewart is truly the glue that held this machine together for its seven year mission. He just owns every minute he is on screen, and basically every scene in this episode contains Picard. John De Lancie as Q is also a great perk. Probably my favorite Star Trek character of all time. What's better than a sarcastic omnipotent being whose only real joy is to screw with the captain of the Enterprise? Here's hoping Deja Q is the next episode we watch.
I put a picture of the "Picard from Tapestry" action figure up there because it is widely regarded as the most sought after and valuable Star Trek action figure ever produced. If you're interested, they are actually selling them on Amazon.com starting at $999.00. I translate that into "INSTANT DIVORCE."
So... what's your favorite ST:TNG episode?
